We do more than real estate. Why? Because we care about the community, and giving back is central to our philosophy. You will see our passion in our work ethic, and just as importantly, in our local community involvement.
CBRE is committed to fulfilling its role as a responsible corporate citizen by supporting and adding value to the communities in which our employees live and work around the world.
CBRE Cares, our company’s corporate giving and volunteerism organization, facilitates this effort by serving as an overarching platform to further a wide variety of charitable activities. CBRE Cares leverages the passion and talents of our employees across the globe to create real benefit for individuals in need through community outreach and support, disaster-response initiatives and locally driven, regionally sanctioned programs.
Throughout the year, CBRE supports a wide range of organizations, several of which we have been giving to as many as 18 years.
Camp John Marc
Camp John Marc is part of the Special Camps for Special Kids program and was built on land donated by Jan and Marc Myers in memory of their son John Marc, who lost his life to osteogenic sarcoma in 1987 at the age of nine. It was the first camp in the country dedicated specifically to serving children with chronic illnesses and now serves as the model for numerous camps around the country. Backed by on-site medical care, children at Camp John Marc find common ground, new friends, numerous activities, and increased self-esteem, and leave with an “I can do it” attitude.
CBRE has supported Camp John Marc for more than 18 years through our annual black-tie gala, Chefs Showcase. The event brings together the most well-known area chefs to showcase their favorite dishes, and raises money through a silent auction and casino. Inspired by Camp John Marc’s “I can do it” philosophy, we have grown this event throughout the years and are proud that Chefs Showcase is Camp John Marc’s largest fundraiser.
Since its inception in 1998, Chefs Showcase has raised a total of $2.5 million and enabled more than 8,000 kids with chronic illnesses and major physical disabilities to experience the therapeutic benefits of camping. For more information on Camp John Marc, please visit www.campjohnmarc.org.
The American Heart Association
CBRE is a long-time supporter of the American Heart Association (AHA) having participated in Heart Walks throughout the United States as a sponsor and walking participants. In 2015, CBRE received an award for having the 2nd highest donation per participant ratio in Dallas for the AHA Heart Walk. In addition, CBRE offices across the U.S. host unique events to raise money, including its annual Clay Shoot fundraiser. To date, CBRE has given back approximately $400,000 to the organization. AHA’s mission to build healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and strokes coincides with CBRE’s RISE values and our own mission to promote a healthy lifestyle in and out of the workplace. During each Christmas season, CBRE’s Retail Services team in Dallas participates in the Adopt-A-Family program benefiting The Family Place, Genesis and CASA. This annual event gives our team the opportunity to buy Christmas gifts for families in need and reflect on the gifts we have in our own lives. The Family Place, Genesis and Dallas CASA are local organizations that help families that have been affected by domestic violence.
- The Family Place provides family violence victims all they need to be safe including a hotline, safe housing, legal help, supervises visitation, counseling for victims and abusers as well as community education.
- Genesis Women’s Shelter gives abused women and children a path to lead an independent and safe life. It offers emergency shelter, transitional housing and counseling services.
- Dallas Casa advocates for the best interests of abused and neglected children in protective care, to help them find safe, permanent homes.
